Maressey - Last Night I Dreamt That Somepony Loved Me
This is the second track of the upcoming Flutterdash album. Alone in the dark, Scootaloo is again revisited by all the problems of her life. Orphaned, crippled, and utterly lost; Will she ever realize her dreams that are denied her and find the love she needs? This is the fourteenth track from the Maressey project, a ponified cover of The Smiths classic.
As Braeburn and Big Mac head back to Appleloosa, Rarity and Applejack continue to squabble at the Apple ranch. Underneath their years of conflict lies a hidden longing that boils to the surface. Rarity is the first to let her feelings be known and Applejack soon reveals they are mutual. What they must soon deal with are the repercussions; will their families and friends understand their choice when the former antagonists become lovers? This is another song/chapter from the upcoming Rarijack album. It’s also originally a Smiths classic track.
Continuing the story from “This Charming Mare”; A rescued Braeburn is escorted back to Appleloosa after his wagon cart is damaged. Sparks ignite with Big Mac and the stallion while taking shelter in a barn during a sudden rainstorm. Afterwards he’s conflicted about his own sexuality after the unplanned encounter. Mac assures him not to fret and to make his own choices for his future. This track is part of one of the four albums planned that primarily tells the story of Rarijack (and the characters who are also a part of that same storyline). It’s also originally a Smiths classic track.
This song is about my favorite lesbian horse couple Lyra and Bon Bon. This song is sung from the pov of Lyra when she first approached Bon Bon romantically. It’s easy to live alone in life and pessimistically but why… when there’s so much more to life when it’s shared with another? It is also a cover of the Smiths classic “Sheila Take a Bow”.
This week was a really GOOD week in terms of getting the Maressey Project back on the rails and chugging ahead. Besides the 4 album announcement, the banners and reblog art redo, we got a lot of songs back underway. The Rarijack album has vocalists in place for every track now (including an amazing finale that Warbalist and his wife) and it should be ready in the foreseeable future. Also have been talking with a fair amount of people in the project about picking up the few remaining tracks and talking with quite a few new people who are joining up. Hopefully will get the very last few songs adopted and underway in the next 2 weeks.
Here is the list of last unclaimed songs and what the subject matter, lyrics, and original songs sound like. If you’re not wanting to ruin the surprise of how each album will end then don’t read. Since I’m talking to a lot of vocalists its best to put all that song info in one spot so they can decide what looks like the best fit including some of those last tracks on each album. If you’re interested in taking part and taking a song vocal let me know.
Some of the last remaining tracks will have a bit more of a mature theme (love, lust, sexuality, and loss) but that’s honestly the type of audience we’re looking to appeal to. Something a bit emotionally riveting and relatable and documenting that difficult change from a teen to an adult.
Maressey - Panic (Hang the Dj)
Dubstep invades Ponyville and many ponies have just had their fill of it and are furious by their sleepless nights and vibrating buildings. Applejack in particular says enough is enough and burns down the local danceclub right outside her farm early one morning. She accidentally sets off a musical backlash that affects all corners of Equestria with dj’s fleeing for their lives as mobs of ponies protest against EDM. This track is of course a ponified version of The Smiths classic track. Enjoy.
A few changes in the lineup of Team Maressey and we’re also looking into a few new vocalists to join the project. Just figuring out who is taking what tracks out of those still available. Would like to get those assigned out the next two weeks so the FOUR albums can truly become a reality.
Also did an update to the headers for each of the blogs and the youtube channel page to highlight the upcoming albums and the art of Maressey. Thx to those artists who have allowed us to use their art for the project and we have credits and links back for each piece in use.
Ok at some point I needed to think about what the Maressey album would look like and would it be just ONE? While the themes often change each week on the new release I was hoping we’d get to the character arcs where songs start telling stories of several ships, with each song telling a different chapter of that storyline over its course. The best place for this to happen is with the album releases so each album has a theme. Therefore I’ve proposed collecting the songs in 4 themed albums, with one for Rarijack, Flutterdash, Twiluna, and one a general bronies topics theme. Four just works for the amount of character themes involved and the progress so far on each. .
The number indicates song progress. 5 is a completed song, 4 has an instrumental and a vocal with it in the mixing stage. 3’s often have a far along instrumental but are needing a vocal or further instrument work. 2’s or lower are very much a wip instrumental draft or perhaps have nothing yet if lower. Any song that is crossed out could have been part of the album if someone took charge and made the song but is otherwise not likely going to be attempted to make it just due to time constraints. They are non essential to album completion so we are likely skipping them. Can’t make every Maressey song into a reality.
Second Album (Flutterdash includes Scootaloo + Discord) 9 songs
Third Album (Twiluna Theme, Includes small Pinkie Pie arc, Celestia, and Trixie) 9 songs. Twiluna arc is needing the most attention but could be rescued quickly with vocalist help on Luna and Twi’s parts.
Fourth Album (The Brony Album). This one is mainly about the fandom and from our pov. Likely may include some pony songs dealing with background characters that don’t fit well in the other 3 mane 6 album concepts. 10 songs
